Quantum Gravity Effects in Black Holes at the LHC

چکیده
We study possible back-reaction and quantum gravity effects in the evaporation of black holes which could be produced at the LHC through a modification of the Hawking emission. The corrections are phenomenologically taken into account by employing a modified relation between the black hole mass and temperature. The usual assumption that black holes explode around 1TeV is also released, and the evaporation process is extended to (possibly much) smaller final masses. We show that these effects could be observable for black holes produced with a relatively large mass and should therefore be taken into account when simulating micro-black hole events for the experiments planned at the LHC.

Probing quantum gravity effects in black holes at LHC
We study modifications of the Hawking emission in the evaporation of miniature black holes possibly produced in accelerators when their mass approaches the fundamental scale of gravity, set to 1TeV according to some extra dimension models. Back-reaction and quantum gravity corrections are modelled by employing modified relations between the black hole mass and temperature. We release the assump...
متن کاملBlack Holes and Quantum Gravity at the LHC
We argue that the highly studied black hole signatures based on thermal multiparticle final states are very unlikely and only occur in a very limited parameter regime if at all. However, we show that if the higher-dimensional quantum gravity scale is low, it should be possible to study quantum gravity in the context of higher dimensions through detailed compositenesstype searches.

We present an evidence, that the volumes of compactified spaces as well as the areas of black hole horizons must be quantized in Planck units. This quantization has phenomenological consequences, most dramatic being for micro black holes in the theories with TeV scale gravity that can be produced at LHC. We predict that black holes come in form of a discrete tower with well defined spacing. Ins...
متن کاملNature of Microscopic Black Holes and Gravity in Theories with Particle Species
Relying solely on unitarity and the consistency with large-distance black hole physics, we derive model-independent properties of the microscopic black holes and of shortdistance gravity in theories with N particle species. In this class of theories black holes can be as light as MP lanck/ √ N and be produced in particle collisions above this energy. We show, that the micro black holes must com...
متن کاملBlack Hole Bound on the Number of Species and Quantum Gravity at LHC
In theories with a large number N of particle species, black hole physics imposes an upper bound on the mass of the species equal to MP lanck/ √ N . This bound suggests a novel solution to the hierarchy problem in which there are N ≈ 1032 gravitationally coupled species, for example 1032 copies of the Standard Model. The black hole bound forces them to be at the weak scale, hence providing a st...
